As a close-knit community, Rancho Santa Fe continues to dedicate its time and resources to helping others and doing all they can to make a difference in as many lives as possible. Charities and philanthropic events are a constant for this caring community.
Here are some events from this past month in RSF:
Home 4 the Holidays
On October 15th, The Helen Woodward Animal Center along with the Blue Buffalo Home 4 the Holidays Program, had their holidays kick-off event at the Hotel Indigo in Del Mar. They are set to reach their 10 millionth pet adopted since beginning the center in 1999.
“Home 4 the Holidays” occurs each year and is an international pet adoption campaign that lasts for three months.
Country for the Kids
On October 18th, the “Country for the Kids” concert was held at the Santaluz Club and was presented by the Foundation for the Children of the Californias. Music featured was by Lonestar and proceeds will benefit their campaign to complete the third operating room in the hospital’s surgery center including an ophthalmology specialty.
The goal is to restore 20/20 eyesight to children who have disorders, blindness, or will go blind in the future due to lack of income. This foundation is a tri-national collaboration between Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Rancho Santa Fe Review told us that “No child is turned away for inability to pay”.
Hidden Treasures
On the same day, October 18th, Hidden Treasures Foundation held a fashion show charity event with Fine Magazine. Held at Cielo Village Courtyard in RSF, all proceeds will aid in the housing and restoration of rescued girls who were victimized by the sex-trafficking industry.
Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Laughter
Rancho Santa Fe Resident, Michelle Pius, organized the fundraiser “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Laughter” in less than three months. Held on October 24th at Liberty Station, it helped benefit two local charities geared towards helping combat veterans.
One of the charities, Lives of Promise, provides clean and safe housing as well as support services to veterans who struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) at no cost. The other charity, Shelter to Soldier, rescues dogs from shelters and trains them as psychiatric service dogs and later donates them to soldiers with the same disorder.
All Fore the Community Golf Classic
Being held today, October 27th, is the 21st annual “All Fore the Community” Golf Classic at the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club, hosted by the Rancho Santa Fe Community Center. Featuring a putting contest, 18-hole scramble, lunch, and prizes, the tournament is open to the public and all proceeds benefit the Rancho Santa Fe Community Center.
The community center is a nonprofit organization and provides the community with after-school youth classes, activities for all ages, sports leagues, and more.
Moms and Tots Halloween Party
Tomorrow, October 28th, don’t forget to check out the Moms & Tots Halloween party happening from 11 am until 1 pm at the Rancho Santa Fe Community Center. They will have treats, games, lunch, crafts, a jump house and more.
Costumes are encouraged and the event is open to all Rancho Santa Fe Community Center members for $20 per family and non-members for $25 per family.
With a thriving community dedicated to its people, it is no wonder that Rancho Santa Fe is also dedicated to helping others as well. The events in Rancho Santa Fe range from annual philanthropy events to monthly children’s events and fundraisers. No matter the age or lifestyle, there are events for everyone in this close community as well as plenty of opportunities to lend a helping hand.
