SEAL-NSW Family Foundation Event

The fourth annual SEAL-NSW Family Foundation event took place on March 21st and raised more than $1 million. The fundraiser was sponsored by American Airlines, Adidas, Wells Fargo Bank, and others, and attracted 125 golfers to the annual Scramble Golf Tournament and 360 attendees at the dinner gala.

Founded in 2008, the SEAL-NSW Family Foundation supports Navy SEALs and their families through a variety of programs. Last year, the Foundation spent $2.4 million on a variety of support programs and organizations, including family services, emergency assistance, transition assistance, bereavement support and remembrance support.

For the second year in a row, the event’s opening morning ceremony featured bagpipers performing patriotic songs and a skydiving exhibition by Skydiving Innovations. Navy SEAL and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient kicked off the golf tournament with a welcome speech.

The evening gala dinner featured keynote speaker General Michael Hayden, who has served as the director of both the CIA and NSA.

Many other distinguished guests were in attendance and future events are already in planning. Make sure to check the SEAL-NSW Family Foundation website to keep up to date.

Taste the Cure

The San Diego Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation hosted “Taste the Cure” just last week on March 26th. The event was held at the Fairbanks Ranch Club, and benefited the Foundation by raising funds.

JDRF is the leading global organization funding Type 1 Diabetes research and collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners in order to work toward its goals.

Present at Taste the Cure were some of JDRF’s cutting-edge researchers, giving guests the opportunity to ask questions and gain understanding while enjoying an evening of fine wine and friends.

The event included wine tasting and appetizers, and Wine Sellar and Brasserie was present to offer wines for both taste and purchase.

For more information about JDRF and future events, check out their website. The Promise Ball will be held on May 30th, and aims to raise $1 million for Type 1 Diabetes.
