Q&A with 15739 El Camino Real Rancho Santa Fe Home Sellers

Ryan McGovern of the Jason Barry Team interviews sellers of 15739 El Camino Real in Rancho Santa Fe to get their thoughts on their West Side Covenant Splendor home recently put on the market.

What do you love about your home?

The entire house is simple, clean and elegant but at the same time exceptionally practical. The property is large at over 2 ½ acres offering privacy BUT the maintenance is minimal because only about ¾’s of an acre is actually landscaped and the rest is just natural vegetation. The location is as convenient as any property (two minutes to Interstate 5) in southern California but the rural setting provides a peaceful and tranquil environment. At about 6,000 square feet this 15739 El Camino Real Rancho Santa Fe Home has ample space for a large family and the entire guest bedroom wing and guest house can be separated when not in use saving considerably on utilities.

What do you like about the Covenant neighborhood?

Our initial intrigue with Covenant living was having access to the Roger Rowe School. We sent two children through the school and were thrilled with the experience. Coming from a beach community, we were really drawn to the privacy afforded by larger lots in a rural setting is complimented with a “downtown” area steeped in the tradition of “Old California” thus making the Covenant of Rancho Santa Fe one of the finest communities in the country.

What are your favorite local activities, events, restaurants, or attractions?

The homeowners within the Covenant are afforded the opportunity to join some of its many amenities such as the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club, a traditional Max Behr designed, vintage 1920s course which has been consistently in the top 20 of all California courses and voted in the top 20 of all walking courses in the country. Additionally, the Covenant offers a tennis club and riding (as in horses) club which are highly acclaimed. The 40 + miles of trails provide and additional amenity which is unusual for southern California. There are numerous restaurants in the area (Market, Cucina Enoteca, Mill Fleur’s, Delicias, Thyme, Morada, Veladora, Pony Room, etc.), some of which are critically acclaimed nationally. Finally, the weather is undeniably the finest of anyplace in the country, offering well over 330 days of sunshine with NO bugs!

Since acquiring your home, what custom features have you added?

When we acquired the home in early 2006, we totally remodeled the entire property, both inside and out. Therefore the home is really only 8 ½ years old as everything was totally changed and upgraded. The landscaping was completely redone at that time as well. So the only real structural change made since then was the addition of a bar area off of the living room in 2011.

What keywords would best describe your home?

Classy, clean, understated elegance, practical and comfortable.
