The historic Covenant of Rancho Santa Fe has long been known for its breathtaking landscape views and opulent homes. For years, the upscale and exclusive neighborhood has drawn residents from all over Southern California. Notable residents have included Jenny Craig, Bing Crosby, and even Glen Bell, the founder of Taco Bell.

For the past thirteen years, the Covenant has also been home to professional golfer Phil Mickelson. Popularly known as “Lefty”, the 44-year old native San Diegan won the 2005 PGA Championship and continues to play today.

Just last week, the professional golfer listed his 4.55-acre property for sale.

This is not the first time that Mickelson is putting his estate up for sale. In 2008, the house was put on the market for $12.2 million. It has been listed several times since, often with the asking price of about $7 million. Most recently, the property went up for $6.5 million in August of 2013.

Now, the home is selling for $5.99 million, which some would describe as a bargain price for the beautiful luxury home.

Mickelson’s home features a three-hole putting green.

Built in 2001, the single-story, 9,176 square foot property offers luxury living both inside and outside of the home. The exterior of the Italian style property features pepper and olive trees, an infinity pool with blue tiles, and signature vista views. As one might expect, the backyard also features a three-hole putting green.

Visitors enjoy their own guest rooms as well as an entertainer’s courtyard. The courtyard is complete with a covered loggia and an outdoor kitchen and fireplace – the perfect spot to host a summer barbecue or family birthday party.

On the inside, you’ll find 5 bedrooms, 6 and one-half bathrooms, a chef’s kitchen and an oversized family room. The master suite is equipped with an exercise room and a coffee and juice bar.

Throughout the entire property, Old World details add a touch of uniqueness. From mosaics and hand-carved stone fireplaces, to leaded glass windows and trussed beams, the home is, no doubt, impressive.

Interested in purchasing a luxury home? Mickelson’s property is certainly an option, but the Covenant neighborhood has a number of other beautiful homes on the market.

Casa De Los Suenos is listed for $15.9 million.

Even more extravagant than Mickelson’s Italian property is “Casa De Los Suenos”, located at 6884 Alydar Corte within the Covenant. The Mediterranean Estate has just finished a complete renovation, and is listed at $15.9 million.

The 2.69-acre property is another single-story beauty with an open floor plan. The home includes 6 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, each carefully decorated with wood paneling and ceiling detail.

The kitchen is particularly impressive in size and design, with slab granite counters, custom cabinetry, and commercial grade appliances. Even more, a hidden passageway lies behind the bar, leading residents to an underground wine cellar and tasting room.

Families will appreciate the state-of-the-art Media Room, ideal for entertaining guests and friends.

Casa De Los Suenos is definitely one to check out. For the complete listing, see here.
